What is P’tit Train du Nord?
The P’tit Train du Nord is a linear park going through the Laurentians region from north to south for 234km. We can mostly cycle, walk, and even do cross country skiing during winter. The site is managed by a non-profit organization in collaboration with 6 regional county municipalities.
Is the park access free?
Yes, access to the park is free at all times. However, to maintain, patrol and manage the park, the organization is always looking for funds to maintain and improve this beautiful infrastructure. You can help by purchasing a souvenir item from one of our boutiques at the Sainte-Agathe and Prévost stations. You can also contribute by making a donation. You’ll receive a tax receipt for any contribution over $25. We thank you in advance!
What is the state of the trail?
Some sections are asphalted, while others are made of rock dust. We suggest checking out our interactive map for more information about the different zones’ conditions. https://carte.ptittraindunord.com/ Portions in pink are paved and those in brown are in gravel.
Before setting out, it is important to check whether there is any work in progress on the section of your route by visiting the “trail conditions” tab on the home page of our website. www.ptittraindunord.com/

What are the park rules?
FOR CYCLISTS
- We ask cyclists to announce their overtaking either with a bell or verbally, in a courteous and considerate manner.
- Respect the 22 km/hour limit and the 10 km/hour limit when approaching towns and villages, and make careful manoeuvres.
- At street crossings, cyclists do not have the right of way. You must stop and check before crossing. Some crossings give priority to pedestrians (or to cyclists on foot beside the bike).
- Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended
- Electrically-assisted bicycles are permitted if they are equipped with functional pedals, in accordance with the highway safety code. EABs must travel at a maximum speed of 22km/hour in general, and 10km/hour in urban areas.
WALKERS/RUNNERS
- Walkers and runners must ride on the right, in the same direction as cyclists.
- Avoid headphones! To hear bicycles clearly, it’s important to listen actively to ambient noise.
ALL USERS
- Ride in single file
- In-line skating and skateboarding are permitted, provided you keep to the right side of the track and do not swerve.
- Roller skiing is permitted before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

- Don’t throw anything on the ground and take your garbage with you to keep the area clean.
